How to make your marketing stand out & make the most of automation
Today's world is saturated with content, and I'm not just talking about social media and the endless scrolling attached to it. Our world has been saturated with advertising for a long time and it's only getting more dense. In the 70's we were exposed to around 500 ads per day. That number has risen astronomically, with current estimates at around 5,000 ads per day. That's a hell of a lot of buy-my-$h%t and look-at-my-brand entering our brains... but not a whole lot of connection.
You see, with a world saturated in content, the advertising and marketing game is no longer just about having enough money to get an ad out. Back in the day, putting money into ads = success. Today, however, it's not the case. Putting money behind ads doesn't guarantee anything, because our marketing platforms have grown so much that there's room for absolutely everyone. So, how do we stand out in a crowd of 5,000 per day? How do we stand out amongst those that have incredible marketing budgets and professional assistance?
My answer to this is remarkably simple;
Create regular genuine, authentic connection.
And, how do we do this with ease and consistency? We utilise free marketing automation software, like Mailchimp. We write a series of emails that capture and connect with our ideal client. We write engaging content. And, we make sure we are keeping the conversation going.
People no longer just buy a product because they feel they want it or need it. The buying process has become impregnated with core branding values - aka what your brand represents and whether this resonates with your buyer or not. We have been forced to make our brand an expression of something greater than our product, because just like marketing, the marketplace itself is abundant and truly unique products no longer really exist. There's a substitute for everything.
So, how do you get the values and visions of your brand across to your potential buyer? How do you express your uniqueness and your stories with this person?
You offer them something of incredible value for free that they can subscribe to (so, really, they have paid you with their email address). You then write a series of emails specific to the problems of this person and you automate the delivery of those emails. Your potential buyer now has regular contact from you, becomes familiar with your brand, and has a higher possibility of purchasing from you. Being authentic and consistent in your communication = higher conversion rate. (Conversion rate = sale rate).
So, do you have something of value (aka an opt-in) to build your subscriber following?
Do you have funnels set up so that you can keep regular and consistent communication?
If you answered NO, you need to:
- MAKE AN OPT-IN (this is why I created the State of Health graph - you can read more about it here or take our free trial)
- Set up a Mailchimp account if you haven't already, and get to work on creating some automated campaigns!
